MAC Cosmetics collection inspired by Selena Quintanilla
MAC is working on a collection of makeup products inspired by Selena including a new cherry red lipstick called “Como La Flor,” after one of Selena’s biggest hits.
The new lipstick and entire Selena collection will be released in October. (Selena via Facebook) Selena fans will soon be able to rock her iconic red lip, thanks to a new collection by MAC Cosmetics.
The collection was announced Tuesday and is curated by Selena’s sister, Suzette. It will be released in October.
“I wanted the colours to be about her personally, what she wore on and offstage. She has been gone for 21 years already, and for this collaboration to happen, it’s pretty much incredible. It just shows the love her fan base has even though she’s gone; that her music still lives on and her legacy has grown tremendously since she’s passed. It’s a great honour to have M·A·C collaborate with Selena’s name and her fans — FOR her fans,” Suzette Quintanilla said.
Watching old clips of Selena Quintanilla—whether she’s singing, talking or just flashing that radiant smile—is an exercise in exhilaration and heartbreak.
It never gets tiresome, enjoying her enchanting presence.
But it does get awfully sad, especially once you lose yourself in the music and then remember that she’s gone.
Gone since 1995, in fact, and in the not too distant future, the amount of time she’ll have been gone is going to surpass the amount of time she spent on this planet.
And yet her legacy endures and her influence on the Latin-crossover music scene—and far beyond, probably further than most people realize—is as strong as ever, despite the mellifluously voiced pop star being struck down just as her fame was reaching new levels for all the right reasons.
In the years that followed, her story was of course brought to the masses by the biopic Selena, but she herself continued to be revered as a singular artist and person, known locally for her humanitarian work with battered women’s shelters and youth programs such as D.A.R.E.. A life-sized bronze statue stands in Corpus Christi, the Selena Museum opened in 1998, more than 65,000 people packed Houston’s Reliant Stadium for a tribute concert in 2005 and in 2011 the U.S. Postal Service put her on a stamp as a “Latin Legend.” Enamorada De Ti, a tribute album of Selena covers, was released in 2012.
The artist would have been 45 years old April 16, and Selena Day in Texas will be celebrated as always.

No such thing as a neutral thought…
Special thanks to Raquel Fanucchi for sending this to me today 🙂 #awesomeread
For several weeks now, I have been asking the question: are there tried and true, timeless, unchanging principles that, if you understand and apply, success must follow? My answer was: yes! OK, so what are they? The first principle is: there is no such thing as a neutral thought. You are an infinitely creative being and what you have been given to create with is your mind. Every thought you have gets planted in the fertile soil of creativity and produces a result. The second principle is: your emotions are the fuel that waters the soil. What I call happy, joyful, optimistic and abundant feelings are like putting fertilizer on the soil and what I call unhappy, angry, fearful and scarcity-based feelings are like putting acid on the soil.If life is that simple, and I assure you it is, how come we’re not all living the lives of our dreams? In previous blogs, I’ve focused on the problems. Now it’s time to focus on what you can do, starting today, to play the games of life and business to win:Given the second principle, it is critically important that you control your emotions, but hardly anyone does that. We have been conditioned to believe that our joy, happiness and satisfaction come from the circumstances of life. So we constantly look at those circumstances to determine our attitude. The result is we are like a weather vane blowing in the wind. When we ”like” our circumstances, we are happy. When we don’t “like” them, we are not.The consequences of this behavior is that one minute we’re watering the soil containing our dreams and the next minute we’re pouring acid on the soil. There is no way your hopes and dreams can become a reality under these circumstances. Here’s what you have to understand: no successful person allows the circumstances to dictate their attitude. Successful people choose their attitude and bring it to the circumstances. See the difference?I have a very successful friend, actually several. What they all have in common is that they are excited and happy pretty much all the time. Life is this great adventure they are participating in and they can’t seem to wait to see the next exciting event on the journey. When they face challenges, they don’t let them get them down, they view them as the next great opportunity to become more of who they are meant to be.So if you want to be successful in life and business, you must choose your attitude. Choose to be happy. Choose to be satisfied. Choose to be grateful. Cultivate an attitude of gratitude. You’ll be much more successful and have a lot more fun on the way to wherever it is you want to go.Have a great week. |
